GOLDEN ARROW AWARD BANQUET - 2006 SEASON

The Order gathered on April 9, 2007 to commemorate the 2006 hunting season and select the winner of the 3rd annual Golden Arrow Award.  It was another great night, featuring a feast of wild game which included ram enchiladas, pheasant spicy, antelope steaks, elk bratwurst, and a wide selection of appetizers, salads and beverages.

A number of new members were inducted to the Order.  Myles and Bethany Morris, and Devin Khoury fullfilled the requirements for memebership during the banquet.

After the meal, the Order discussed the high points of the year, and voted for the award.  In the end Jimmy Rolle was the winner of the 2006 Golden Arrow award for his outstanding archery season, taking a bull elk and mule deer buck with his bow.  Again, the Order has become more about our time together and our friendships than the award.  One of the most posative side effects of creating the Order is having a forum to document and record the outdoor experiences that we share together.

Dave reluctantly passes the torch to Jimmy.  The tradition continues.

GOLDEN ARROW AWARD BANQUET – 2005 SEASON

On April 7, 2006, the Members of Order of The Golden Arrow and all Candidates for inclusion in the Order gathered at David and Molly Tinlgey's house to celebrate the 2005 hunting and fishing seasons, and to present the Golden Arrow Award to the member or candidate voted most deserving.  The Order started the night with the United States Pledge of Allegiance.  The Big Horn Sheep and American Flag stood majestically above the Order, while Kristen Rolle headbanged to the National Anthem in the background.

Following the Anthem, the banquet was served.  Moose steaks and deer bratwurst was the main course, accented by a host of appetizers, beverages, and side dishes.  Blane prepared a sautéed mushroom dish that had a robust Mediterranean flavor.

Jim Rolle, senior candidate for membership seemed to approve of both the appetizer and wine selection on hand.  The feast was enjoyed by all.

Following the feast, the Order got down to business.  The Four Fathers unanimously voted Jason Rolle and Jim Rolle into the Order.  The Order then discussed the Constitution, voting rights and power, and other internal business.  Although these discussions were somewhat serious, the night was not without frivolity.  See the Gallery for all photos from the banquet.

The nominations for the 2005 Season Award were as follows:

Jim Rolle was nominated for the 319 yard shot on a mule deer buck during the last 15 minutes of shooting time.  Jim's 338 win mag dropped the buck with one shot.

Nate Olson was nomintated for his exceptional photo journalism documenting the opening day of waterfowl season.

Blane Dale was nominated for the outstanding effort and number of days spent in the field during the 2005 "bugle" season.  Blane adds "unsuccessfully".

Dave Tingley was nominated for the overall outstanding season, in which he harvested a bull moose, bull elk, and legit mule deer buck.

Jimmy was nominated for presenting his daughter Brielle with a frozen antelope head for her birthday present.

Jimmy was nominated for effort in scouting and exploring a hunting spot which resulted in the opportunity to harvest 4 bull elk, multiple whitetail bucks, and two bears.

The first round of voting resulted in two finalists.  David, for his overall season, and Nate, for his journalism of the opening day of waterfowl season.  Dave was awarded th Golden Arrow following a very close final vote.  David reluctantly took the Award, but the Order insisted that he deserved it.  In the end, The Order is not about the Award, but about the comradery shared in the field, and the memories we share together as friends and family.
